Meet the owner
Joe Romano built his career from the ground up.
Joe's construction career began more than 40 years ago as a laborer. Over time, he became proficient in interior and exterior framing, drywall, metal structures, carpentry and masonry. That hands-on background gave him a deep understanding of both the craft and the level of quality he wanted to deliver.
In 1995, Joe and his wife Janice founded Down Under Construction Services, Inc. Today, DUCS operates through two divisions: a Residential Division and a Commercial Building and HOA Maintenance Division.

We listen carefully and work to understand each customer's needs. Communication stays open, sincere and direct throughout the project, with Joe available by phone and in person before, during and after construction.

We self-perform a large portion of our work.
One of the biggest differences between DUCS and many construction companies is our commitment to self-performance. Instead of outsourcing every phase, we maintain more than 20 laborers and carpenters on staff, with many employees having worked with us for 18 years or more.
When specialized subcontractors are needed, DUCS works with a trusted group of proven professionals. Whether the work is performed by our own craftsmen or by established trade partners, the goal is the same: put the right professionals on every project.

Beyond the jobsite
Family, fishing and the Gulf of Mexico.
When Joe is not running the business, he enjoys spending time with his wife, four children and two grandchildren, along with the family's pets. Offshore fishing in the Gulf of Mexico is another favorite, and Joe makes sure the family has plenty of fresh fish to enjoy.
